After a little southeasterly blow on Monday the weather has settled into nice light southerlies and QCL anglers are enjoying more smooth-water days all over thefishing grounds. This is particularly beneficial as we are finding lots of great salmon action offshore. Besides fishing surrounded by feeding Humpback whales much of the time, we are finding schools of nice fat Coho up near the surface, most of them in the mid teens. Anglers fishing back in the traditional areas nearshore are picking up some big Chinooks, particularly at Bird 2, Klashwun and Green Points. Mike Dean boated a nice 40 pounder at Bird 2 on Tuesday, fishing on the Auklet with guide Thor Bresch.
Out at Green Point it was teenager Ben Stenner who triumphed, bringing the big fish of the week to the net. Guide Mike Borelli scooped the big trophy which weighed 45 pounds, a fantastic catch for any angler! On the weekend we have continued to pick up some nice big Chinooks in close to the rocks. Shane Bondy boated a beautiful 40 pounder on Friday while Brian Sidorsky landed a nice 37 fishing with QCL guide Mike Tustin at Parker Point. The weather is forecast to go from light northwesterlies on the weekend to light southwesterlies thru the week. Nice flat water for fishing but it will likely come with some sunshine in its liquid form! |
