Boats and Equipment

The QCL fishing program operates from what is arguably the finest dock facility of its kind, anywhere on the coast. Custom-built to our specifications in Prince Rupert, the new floats were added for the 2008 season.

The Islander Mooching reel, both the MR2 and the MR3 models, are the benchmark by which all salmon reels are measured and they've been standard equipment on our guide boats for years. For the 2012 season all QCL guests, guided and unguided, will use these terrific salmon reels, precision-crafted on Vancouver Island.

Queen Charlotte Lodge provides a full range of services for the angler - from the beginner through to the seasoned veteran. Our fleet of custom-built aluminum boats is specially designed for performance and safety. Whether you choose to fish on your own or with one of our professional guides, you can be sure we’ll work hard to provide you with the fishing adventure experience of a lifetime!

The “QCL Special” from Eagle Craft makes up the bulk of our unguided fleet.  This 17 ft. welded aluminum fishing boat features a centre-console helm for comfortable and confident operation on the fishing grounds.  Powered by smooth-running Mercury 75 hp 4-stroke engines, new each year, these deluxe fishing machines are perfectly built for the job.

Guests staying aboard the MV Driftwood fish from these 19 foot centre-console boats built for us by Bridgeview Marine. These are excellent fishing machines, like the EagleCrafts, they are all set up for the serious angler for both weighted rod and downrigger fishing.

In response to a growing demand for a larger fishing boat offering more room, more horsepower and more features, our fleet of deluxe 22 foot Motion Marines has grown to 18 vessels.   These boats are available first-come, first-served - with or without a guide.

They are fully equipped with electric downriggers, Sirius satellite radios and canopies for anglers who want to fish in greater comfort and use more options to find their fish.  These centre-console vessels can accommodate 4 people in comfort with 115 hp to get back to the lodge and not be late for dinner!  Call today to find out how you can be using one of these beauties on your trip!

In 2011 we added 8 Grady White Gulfstream 232's to the premium fleet. The extra wide 9-foot 3-inch beam provides a spacious fishing platform for guests and guide. The on-board head is a welcome feature, particularly for mixed company, and this model really does deliver on more than just a 23’ walk-around model with a cabin, it feels much more like a 26 footer.

The soft comfortable ride is the result a warped V-bottom hull with a very sharp entry forward, and plenty of deadrise in the hull under the helm so the 232’s ride is comfortable and dry. Be sure to ask about the Grady White package the next time you call!
