QCL and Whistler Water - Good for the Salmon Posted 7 Apr 2010 IN: Lodge News BY QCL
Queen Charlotte Lodge is pleased to announce an exciting new initiative with Whistler Water that will support the work of the Pacific Salmon Foundation and the Sport Fishing Institute of British Columbia. As a leader in BC’s sport fishing industry, Queen Charlotte Lodge knows very well the valuable work that these and other grassroots organizations do to protect the future of the salmon resource. QCL guests travel to these islands from far and wide for the opportunity to enjoy the unspoiled natural beauty of our local environment and to participate in the tradition of sport fishing. While QCL has gone to great lengths to provide a bountiful supply of crystal pure fresh water for our guests and staff there still remains a strong demand for bottled drinking water. In response QCL has selected Whistler Water as our preferred supplier. Together we have developed a program to raise awareness and support the efforts of these great organizations. The Pacific Salmon Foundation is widely recognized as leading the charge to protect, conserve and rebuild wild Pacific salmon populations in the Pacific Northwest. The Sport Fishing Institute of British Columbia is focused on sustainability and protection of fish stocks and the continued growth of anglers expectations and opportunities to enjoy the resource. Queen Charlotte Lodge (QCL) will donate the deposit fees for each bottle of Whistler Water to support the salmon conservation efforts of the Pacific Salmon Foundation and the Sport Fishing Institute of BC. Whistler Water will match these funds dollar-for-dollar. QCL is leading a drive with Whistler Water to expand the program beyond the lodge to provide distribution throughout Haida Gwaii with the goal of creating an even greater pool of funds for salmon sustainability efforts. QCL guests have a healthy appetite for knowledge about the biology and life cycles of the fish they catch. They are encouraged to support salmon enhancement projects and organizations directly through donations and memberships. At the lodge QCL will provide associated background information to educate guests about sustainability and protection of the salmon stocks, both locally and coast wide. We are reminding anglers that, just as they rely on pristine wilderness to supply the pure clean water they love to drink, so do the wild salmon rely on those same conditions for their very survival. Locally owned and operated, Whistler Water has quickly become the preferred choice for responsible consumers of bottled water in British Columbia. Their remote source is located high in the Coastal Mountains north of Whistler at the base of Place Glacier, which means this authentically local product does not travel vast distances to reach you, the end user. The area surrounding the Whistler Water source is pristine wilderness without any industry or development. This remote location provides a secure and natural protection ensuring purity in each bottle of Whistler Water. |
