Guide’s Report – May 31st

Over the past days we have seen lots of action, and days full of fun. Bird Rock 2 has been the center for most of the action, producing good Chinook bites, especially around the slack tides. The drift from Shag Rock to Bird 1 has also been producing quite well. A majority of the fish being caught are in the 15-20 lb range, but fish 25+ lb have been showing up at the scale as well.

Northwest winds have been keeping us from fully exploring our Halibut grounds. However we have seen several Halibut in the 20-40 lb range that have been caught near the Mazarredo Islands.
Today we were able to get out further onto the grounds and we saw some big fish come up! There were several nice halibut in the 30’s and 40’s and we had 4 big ones today that had to go back – 90, 109, 1120 and 150 pounders!

It has been an exciting start to the season and all of us are excited for the adventures that it will hold.
