Going back to our roots, a trip to Queen Charlotte Lodge has always been about spending time on the water; whether fishing, relaxing or nature watching. We all love having the lodge beautifully situated on dry land in the calm sheltered waters of Naden Harbour. But everyone really loves having the MV Driftwood anchored right in the middle of the action on the fishing grounds! The stately wooden ship is an institution around here! The Driftwood and crew play a key role as our operations centre on the grounds; a hub for guest services, communication and safety.
To that end the Driftwood is the perfect place to enjoy a break while you’re out on the water. Throughout the day QCL guests are welcome to come aboard to stretch their legs, use the washroom or grab a fresh cup of coffee. Of course lunch time is the favourite time for that break! So we created “The Hook” cafe on board the MV Driftwood to provide a delicious lunch experience to our guests. The comfortable enclosed dining area on the upper deck provides a truly unique lunchtime experience! It’s the ideal setting in which to enjoy a selection of tasty grilled staples from the barbecue, a hearty bowl of our trademark chowder or a nice fresh plate built from our well-stocked salad bar.
If you are looking for the greatest fishing experience of your life this is THE place to go. From the knowledgeable fishing guides to the delicious meals they have thought of every detail. The fishing was amazing – we easily caught our limit in coho and chinooks including my very first Tyee at 38lbs! The facilities are top quality with well-appointed rooms, a gorgeous main lodge, and a bar at the dock that has the best ‘après fish’ anywhere.
